Yes, I'm still alive, but am taking time off from just about everything for a while. After trying everything under the sun, I had a lumbar 3-disc spinal fusion in late May. Ouch. Recovery hasn't been easy and motion is very restricted, but for the first time in years I can sleep through the night without waking up 3-4AM. PS:  If you've been behaving badly by drinking too much diet soda pop, you'd better stop now!  I got an earful from the neurosurgeon for having soft bones, which he blamed on the caffeine + carbonation + aspartame combination.  I haven't had a can of diet Mt. Dew in nearly a month and I want one sooooooooooooooooo bad!!! :

I'm recovering from what I *hope* is the last back surgery for a while.  I had a couple of herniated discs repaired -- absolutely NO fusion for me! -- and survived three long, dull days of being flat on my back.  The cats, however, have enjoyed having a warm lump to nap on all day!  I am so thankful for online shopping even more this year.  My husband and son hooked my desktop to our living room LED TV so I'm surfing on a SUPER SIZE monitor!  I absolutely love having real broadband, because now I can catch up on the "Once Upon A Time" episodes we've missed because of a bad signal. No, I haven't died, but there were times I wanted to! :XD: October was the Month Without Internet.  Hours spent on the phone with Verizon Wireless were wasted trying to get them to fix the *@(# tower, but things really got nuts when a relative was thrown into a big family train wreck and I was "encouraged" to offer (under duress, feelings of guilt, idiotic compassion, misguided magnanimosity on my part and pure farkin' stupidity) the use of our aircard. :stupidme: If you've read my journals in the past, you know we're bandwidth-challenged, meaning the only way we have access to the internet is through a really lousy Verizon Wireless USB mode
